The Centre du Verre Contemporain aims to showcase the work of world-renowned glass artists and designers, as well as exchanging and renewing glassmaking techniques and know-how.
The Centre brings together an international community of creators and students exploring the use of glass in art and design.
Housed in a former oil mill in Biot, the Centre has an exhibition space, two glass workshops (hot and cold) and a metal workshop. Creation, experimentation and sharing are at the heart of its philosophy.
Artist residencies
Hosted on site, the residents work in our workshops, with our teams, and then present the fruit of their research and creations at a solo exhibition.
Exhibition of a permanent and constantly renewed collection of glass artworks
The centre exhibits and sells series and collections by glass designers from all over the world.
Immersive experiences to present and share knowledge of glassmaking know-how
The Centre offers a range of glass-blowing and creative experiences where the public can come into contact with the molten material.
Co-organisation of the biennial Biot International Glass Festival.
Training
As a partner of the Hilltop Artists school in Tacoma - the American city of glass art, twinned with Biot - and of the Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle, the Centre hosts a number of training courses each year.
