Monick Hilz Portrait
A student dancer at 16 ½ years old, Monick obtained a first prize at the conservatory of Nancy, the city of her birth. A teacher with a heart, passion and generosity, that is how her students describe Monick
I trained in Paris at the Ballets Russes school with the 1st Master Serge Lifar. I was a dancer at the Paris Opera, I worked with Yvette Chauviré, Mesdames Rosanne and Nora Kiss. I went through the Bolshoi of Moscow where I was a student and participated in a ballet. I finished as a soloist, first dancer. I arrived in Biot in 1975. And in 1976, the mayor Mr Camatte opened the municipal school. Biot was a lesson in life, I saw all kinds of colours and I don't regret anything. I learned a lot from the children. I had up to 200 pupils of all ages in the classical class. I organised folklore shows. I have had young boys in sport studies. I am proud of my career and especially of having accompanied two successful students: Eugénie Andrin, international choreographer and Emmanuelle Durrieu, dancer at the Avignon Opera. In Biot, I have made some beautiful human encounters, Patricia Armigliato being one of them, a classical dance student, then president for 11 years of the Terpsichore association where, after retirement, I was able to continue to transmit my passion, dance. Dance is the school of life, rigour and discipline and above all a great satisfaction, a lot of emotions and joy. Today, at 89 years old, I continue my passion for classical dance and I say with a broad smile that I have spent more time at the barre than in my kitchen.
