Born in 1965 in Revin in the Ardennes, Sophie Hustin moved to England, then to Biot.
Graduated from the Guégan School of Decorative Arts, Sophie Hustin worked for several years as a decor painter for interior designers, individuals, communities ... Then, transposing some of this knowledge, she resolutely projected herself into the world of pictorial creation.
"Adorer of the material" in her own words, she uses a mixture of materials - marble powder, sand, metal foil, pigments, oil, acrylic - on canvases where she expresses the questions and uncertainties of the world such as she feels it.
As for sculpture, she likes to work with earth (sandstone, earthenware) but also bronze, a technique that she perfects while staying in Africa.
Her theme, almost classic, evokes the problems of our time. We meet there characters alone or in crowd, in situations which lead to questioning. And although her look does not hide a certain irony in front of the world's spectacle, it always tempers a great tenderness for the human comedy she portrays.
